About Me

Hi, my name is Christina. I kind of fell into the wandering lifestyle after my parents bought an RV and moved to the opposite side of the United States while my siblings and I were still in college.

With no place to call home, I took the opportunity to spread my roots in different cities. As a Florida native, I found myself becoming a local in Tampa Bay, Orlando, as well as the Space Coast.

Travel and finding new experiences became a priority in my life when I began to find true happiness in exploring new places. From visiting my parents at their new home in Cali to making trips to some of my dream destinations (e.g. Denver, Banff, Yosemite), I was enthralled.

Since then, I’ve moved to Washington state — giving me yet another new area to explore and become a local expert. To me, The Hematoma is about all things travel, nature, and becoming a local wherever you are.

Bonus: When I lived in Florida, I didn’t mind bruises too much and actually learned to embrace them, because I frequently found myself getting scrapes and bruises while learning to longboard in St. Petersburg, FL.

In college, I thought “hematoma” meant “bruise,” so I named my Instagram after it.. It’s not exactly the same thing, but the name lives on. That’s my blog and I’m stickin’ to it.
